Announced at Google’s annual developer conference this past Friday, Google has partnered with Levi's to develop smart textiles under the Project Jacquard system. Google’s ATAP research team has been experimenting with conductive material that can be embedded into fabric, transforming any garment into an interactive surface. The conductive threads will respond to gesture-based movements, which will register with complimentary computers that power any textile-based wearable. That information will then be transmitted to mobile phones and other devices. To learn more about Project Jacquard, check out the video above.
