Hublot has unveiled the Big Bang Unico Sapphire automatic flyback chronograph ahead of its official debut next month. It's a unique-looking watch that makes use of one of the hardest materials to machine: sapphire. Within the sapphire case, a proprietary Unico movement that, due to the watch's transparency, is visible from all angles. The case middle, bezel and back are also crafted from sapphire, offering such clarity that it looks like the dial, made from transparent resin, is being suspended in mid-air. Only a few pieces are made from titanium: the screws, the crown, the strap-release system, and the silicone strap. The Hublot Big Bang Unico Sapphire is a limited edition of 500 examples and is priced at $57,900. It will go on display to the public in March at Baselworld.
