Where form meets function

Stalkers worldwide are rejoicing, as Instagram just added a new “Activity Status” section that informs your friends and followers to “see when you were last active” on the app.

The Facebook-owned platform now incorporates the same feature first found on Facebook Messenger, and the activity status is only visible in direct messages, which now displays a line indicating the last time a user was active underneath their username.

If you’re panicking right this moment, Instagram has also given users the option to toggle off their activity status visible to everyone. This can be enabled by going to Instagram’s app settings, scroll down until you see the new ‘Show Activity Status’ option, and then toggle the feature off. Unfortunately, turning this feature off means you won’t be able to see other users’ last activity either.
