‘Recommended’ Posts Are Coming to Your Instagram Feed

Having hinted at some new updates, Instagram has started testing its new “Recommended for You” feature among select users. Similar to Facebook’s Explore feed, the additional feature will update the current home feed by adding in recommended posts across the app alongside ads and accounts that are already followed.

If you’re worried about your feed being overtaken by posts from random accounts, then do not fear: the recommended posts will not replace the accounts you follow, and will only appear after you’ve seen all the posts from people you follow in your feed.

According to Instagram’s help section, users can temporarily hide these posts by tapping the camera icon above the post and selecting “Hide.” Although the new service marks a big shift for the app, some users aren’t too thrilled about the update.

The update is said to feature on both iOS and Android, but there’s no confirmation on when the full roll out takes place. For those that have access to the feature, let us know what you think of it below.
