J Dilla’s mother Maureen “Ma Dukes” Yancey has curated Motor City - a new limited edition compilation of unreleased and rare instrumentals from her late son’s musical archive. It will drop April 21 in limited quantities, and is already available for pre-order via J Dilla’s online store. Below, you can listen to a mix of all the tracks by J Dilla’s friend J Rocc, which will be available with a download code when you cop the LP.
Motor City was conceived by Ma Dukes as a “letter” to her son, so the CD and vinyl editions will be packaged in a mailing envelope, including a handwritten message to J Dilla from Ma Dukes. There’s also a deluxe edition available featuring a flexi 7", t-shirt, cassette, and slipmat.
