Tune in and turn up

Jakob Ogawa might not be a name on your radar, but it’s time you change that. The 20-year old singer hailing from Oslo, Norway has effortlessly nailed the kind of lo-fi bedroom pop that straddles the line between ebulliently-warm and achingly-heartbreaking, or as he so effectively describes in reference to his latest track: “It’s about something sweet that once was and the constant longing for it.” For proof, look no further than “Velvet Light”, Ogawa’s first single of 2018 making its world premiere right here. Listen below.

Ogawa’s ethereal vocals make for a blissful contrast with the earthiness of his production, and it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that he is set to have a breakout year. If “Velvet Light” is any indication as to how he follows up last year’s sublime Bedroom Tapes EP, then we should all be expecting to hear his honeyed vocals as the soundtrack to all of our summer heartbreaks this year.

Last year, Jakob Ogawa stopped by the revered COLORS Berlin studio for a rendition of his track “Let It Pass”. Revisit that below.
