20th Century Fox has confirmed it will be producing an X-Men spinoff based on the character Multiple Man (aka Jamie Madrox) with James Franco as the titular character.
Created by the late Len Wein, Multiple Man first appeared in Marvel Comics circa 1975. Born with cloning powers from nuclear radiation, Jamie’s family move him to a farm where he is eventually entrusted to the care of Professor X, providing him with a special suit to control his newfound strengths.
Although a relatively minor character, Madrox did make an appearance in the 2006 film X-Men: The Last Stand. Reports also state that the film is being penned by Wonder Woman writer, Allan Heinberg, and produced by Simon Kinberg, who has worked on most of Fox’s X-Men movies as a writer and producer.
The production of the film is also in collaboration with Kinberg’s Genre Films producing along with Franco and Ramona Films – of which Franco runs with his brother Dave and Vincent Jolivette. The news comes at a time where Fox has been actively working on the franchise.
Upcoming projects include Deadpool 2 on June 1, New Mutants on April 13, and Gambit starring Channing Tatum slated for February 14, 2019. Is James Franco a good choice? What X-Men spinoff would you like to see next? Let us know what you think.
