Jeff Bezos has officially been named as the richest person of all time. The Amazon CEO has been in an ongoing battle against Bill Gates to become the richest person in the world, but now thanks to Black Friday spending that brought the CEO's net worth over $100 billion, Bezos's wealth has reached a historically unprecedented level — if you disregard inflation.

Bloomberg's Billionaire Tracker currently has Bezos at a total net worth of $106 billion, while Gates comes in at second place, with a net worth of $93.3 billion. However, at the height of the dot-com boom in 1999, Gates was worth over $100 billion, which adjusted for inflation, would be worth approximately $148 billion today.

But even without inflation, Gates would still be the richest man in history if he hadn't given away so much of his wealth to charity. According to Bloomberg, if you add in the publicly donated 700 million shares of Microsoft (which are worth $61.8 billion today) and $2.9 billion in cash donations, the total would bring Gates's net worth to over $150 billion.

But history buffs will know that even Gates can't rival Mansa Musa I's wealth. The 14th century African King is thought to have had a total net worth of $400 billion in today's standards.

Now, watch Jeff Bezos’s Blue Origin send a test dummy to space.
