Following speculation, Jennifer Lopez reveals that she will be performing during halftime of Super Bowl LIV, alongside Shakira. News of the performance comes as Lopez has been owning headlines recently for walking in the finale of Versace’s recent Milan Fashion Week show in a replica of her iconic green dress from the 2000 Grammys. She has also been generating Oscar buzz for her role in Hustlers.

Multiple outlets have been reporting on J-Lo’s expected involvement in the 2020 Super Bowl for weeks now, as the pop star and actress has close ties to the host city of Miami, where she has a home with partner Alex Rodriguez. Earlier this month, Lopez appeared on Live with Kelly and Ryan, and she was questioned about the big event.

“I don’t know!” she said. “I know everybody’s asking me, they’re starting to think that I’m telling people things, I’m not! I don’t know anything yet.” She then went on to discuss the possibility of performing during halftime of Super Bowl LIV. “In theory, yes it would be [great to say yes to the offer]. It’s something that we’ve talked about for many years and it would be nice. I can’t say I wouldn’t love it,” she added.

As a followup to Lopez’s tweet (shown above), Pepsi, the official sponsor of the Super Bowl halftime show, has confirmed J-Lo and Shakira as the performers for 2020.

“We are so excited to announce that global superstars Jennifer Lopez and Shakira will take the stage together for the very first time at the Pepsi Super Bowl LIV Halftime Show,” said Adam Harter, Senior Vice President, Sports, Media and Entertainment, PepsiCo. “We’ve been working closely behind-the-scenes with our longstanding partners at the NFL, and now alongside Roc Nation to bring these mega superstars together.”

Lopez added, “Ever since I saw Diana Ross fly off into the sky at the Halftime Show, I dreamed of performing at the Super Bowl. And now it’s made even more special not only because it’s the NFL’s 100th anniversary, but also because I am performing with a fellow Latina. I can’t wait to show what us girls can do on the world’s biggest stage.”

Super Bowl LIV will take place in Miami on February 2, 2020.
