BADBADNOTGOOD was on a collaboration streak all 2018, and the magic continues as a new season approaches. The Toronto group beautifully connects with Japanese artist Jonah Yano on his new single, “nervous.” In an email to Highsnobiety, Yano told us that this slow-burning ballad marks the fifth song he’s ever written and was inspired by music goddess Joni Mitchell. It’s one of those tunes that will make you feel like you’re slow dancing in a burning room, not that you ever need to live that extreme.

“I was listening to a lot of Joni Mitchell at the time and the way she can turn mundane matters of fact into grand metaphors about the intricacies of human relationships inspired me to expand the line ‘cigarettes make me nervous’ into an entire love song,” he said. “So I gotta thank Joni for this one. And BADBADNOTGOOD. And myself. And the sunshine!”

Yano recently signed to Innovative Leisure and is expected to release more material throughout the year. Stay tuned for more updates on this promising musician and scroll down to watch the full visual for the soulful song.
