In the latest Deadpool 2 news, it seems like Josh Brolin has snagged the role of Cable.

There’s been a lot of chatter surrounding this role, with persistent rumors that Michael Shannon might play Cable, which no longer seems to be the case. The Hollywood Reporter announced that Brolin has secured a four-movie deal to play Cable in Deadpool 2, as well as other Fox Marvel movies like the rumored X-Force.

Brolin is no stranger to the superhero universe, but his casting could be seen as a little unorthodox by some fans. Brolin is currently playing Thanos in the Avengers films, meaning that he will be playing two Marvel characters more or less at the same time. That said, the worlds of Deadpool and The Avengers are completely separate, so we shouldn’t get too confused.

Of course, Ryan Reynolds is reprising his role in the film, and in true Deadpool style, Reynolds took to twitter to joke about the casting choice.
