Estonia sees its fair share of temperate weather, but its winters can be unforgiving. So for LENNE, a children’s clothing manufacturer, it was essential to them that their new office emit an inviting atmosphere, not unlike the warm breezes that waft in from the sea during the summer, year-round.
Enlisting the help of KAMP Arhitektid, the company's 1,100 square-meter Soviet-era factory's decrepit pre-existence is jettisoned in favor of whitewashed walls, wooden structures and greenery, imparting the superficial notion that fresh air can be found without having to venture outside. After all, tree trunks are covered in artificial branches and leaves. Three-foot-tall desk lamps line one side of the office; however, large windows and angular walls ensure that natural light is no longer a novelty.
