The fashion world is still reeling from the death of Karl Lagerfeld last month. Now, ahead of the late designer’s last Chanel show tomorrow, the fashion house has released one of his final interviews to launch its new 3.55 podcast series.
Speaking to Monocle’s editor-in-chief Tyler Brûlé after Chanel’s Pre-Fall 2019 show, Lagerfeld discusses his approach to design — “My job is to propose a fantasy.” — the importance of collaboration, and how he built a career in fashion.
Lagerfeld also touched on how he enjoyed the constant demands of producing seasonal collections. “I hate the expression you have to deliver for,” Lagerfeld explained. “I’m delighted to do it.”
