“Kindness. Balance. Unity. Harmony” read the top of Kenzo’s SS19 show notes. It was another splash of optimism in what has been a positive and hopeful few weeks for menswear this season.

Kenzo explored the above qualities with a blending of tailoring and sportswear i.e. collarless double-breasted jackets and lightweight, deconstructed coats with soft shoulders and nylon medallion prints. The women’s collection was similarly playful, featuring an abundance of flocked twills, saturated colors, and python prints thrown in too.

The overall result was an eclectic collection that highlighted the French luxury house’s knack for carefree and uplifting fashion design. Kenzo’s show notes said that this spring/summer collection was designed for occasions where “new romantic hedonists meet British wedding goers and all the in-betweens,” and we’re inclined to agree.
