If you’re yet to have familiarized yourself with London-based Bulgarian designer Kiko Kostadinov, we can only assume you’ve been living a life completely exiled from the fashion world. At the front of contemporary workwear, his recent output has landed him on the shortlist for the prestigious LVMH prize this year. Now, his namesake label is available to shop at SSENSE, for anyone who likes to stay one step ahead of the style curb.
Established for the SS16 season, Kostadinov launched with a line of directional, ready-to-wear apparel influenced by uniforms. The collection’s showcasing of unusual pattern cutting and garment construction later saw him launch an ongoing collaborative line with Camper Lab and, even more notably, Asics – a fashion-meets-function partnership particularly beloved by the sneakerheads of Highsnobiety HQ.
Other impressive resumé sidelines from his own label include being creative director of luxury heritage brand Mackintosh’s 0001 capsule, as well as launching a decidedly more affordable elevated workwear capsule under the Affix moniker last summer. It’s for SS19, however, that his signature designs have really caught our attention and found their way onto our shopping lists.
Mixing together somber tones with asymmetric styling and utilitarian accents, Kiko Kostadinov’s latest designs are both avant-garde and super wearable at the same time. Below, we’ve rounded up some of the pieces we’re most excited about, from checked wide-leg trousers to fashion-forward cropped jackets and innovatively cut shirting.
Scroll on to see all the stand-out pieces from the SS19 line, and start shopping to secure those one-step-ahead vibes.
