Today is the day that Lady Gaga's little monsters have been waiting for. The pop superstar has finally released her new album Joanne, a country-tinged work that is both odd and overwhelmingly catchy. To promote the record, Gaga stopped by Zane Lowe's Beats 1 radio show for an in-depth interview on the album's creation. Listen to it below:

In the extensive interview, Gaga goes into great detail on the story behind many of the tracks. For instance, the song "Dancin' in Circles" was written with none other than Beck, while the duet "Hey Girl" required long hours in the studio with Florence Welch (of Florence + the Machine).

But Lowe also addresses various aspects of Gaga's personal life, including the emotional inspirations behind the new album. A particularly rewarding moment of the interview comes when she's compared to Madonna, the answer to which you'll have to hear for yourself.

Lady Gaga's new album Joanne is available now. Stream it in full below via Spotify:

In other music news, Chance the Rapper has shared a video for his song "How Great," shot entirely on an iPhone and in portrait mode at that. Watch it right here.
