Today Leica has officially announced their new entry level Leica M Typ 262 digital rangefinder camera. The new M model is essentially a more basic version or the "M-E" version of the current M Typ 240 flagship model. Most people use a Leica M for photography only and not for video and therefore Leica removed the video functionality all together from the new M Typ 262. Also the camera is 100 grams lighter, due to the top plate being engineered from durable aluminum. Due to the omission of additional features like Live View and the video capability, the menu is extremely lean and consists of only two pages, allowing you to get faster to the functions that you actually need. The result is not only a cheaper Leica M, but a camera that embodies the M-Philosophy in its purest form. Find out more about the new Leica M Typ 262 over at the brand's official website.
