Here is the latest entry in our partnership with COLORS BERLIN, an online music channel that aims to break down the barriers of the musical landscape. ALL COLORS NO GENRES is their main mission – from hip-hop to indie, electronica, R&B and pop, COLORS BERLIN allows artists to present themselves and their work in a contemporary way. We’ve teamed up with them on a series of video shorts in which artists are invited to perform one of their own tracks in the COLORS studio.
Being alive in 2017 is an experience that can only be described as stressful. Now is a time of great strife and frustration, and some days it seems like an effort to simply drag yourself out of bed and be alive. So now, more than ever, we need music like the work of Leven Kali.
Leven's music is bursting with positivity and optimism, and not of the doe-eyed naive variety. He conveys human nature's good side with earnest enthusiasm, a mode that is too often dismissed as disingenuous but is here writ with the kind of open-armed acceptance most artists never come close to achieving. It's why he's managed to propel himself forward in the music scene despite his tender age.
Naturally, this could not possibly be conveyed better than the performance of his song "Joy" in the COLORS studio. Armed with sunglasses and a cup of tea, he projects his vision of sunshine in a manner both accessible and inspiring. Watch his set above.
