We recently paid a visit to Levi’s San Francisco headquarters and while we were there dropped by their archive to check out some of their most legendary and, in some cases, longest-forgotten pieces. Among those things that caught our eye was a pair of jeans customized by modern art superstar Damien Hirst himself. The 501s in question were given the British artist’s Spin technique, which he refined while working in his Brixton studio in 1992.

The technique has since become a signature of his and was eventually celebrated in this collaboration with the storied American clothing manufacturer. Although the final collection differed slightly from Hirst’s original design, the colorful, radiant effect no doubt belongs to the divisive artist, and will always be a recognisable hallmark of his work.
