After introducing the first Light Phone in 2015, the New York-based company has now introduced its successor with the Light Phone 2, a simple, 4G LTE phone with a beautiful black and white matte E-ink display.
Retaining its signature slim rectangular profile, this latest variation now boasts an aluminum casing, a larger speaker, microphone, and battery, as well as the addition of a proximity sensor, headphone jack and physical buttons for navigation.
Additionally, the Light Phone 2 is equipped with a new operating system and functionality. Light's OS uses a few thoughtfully implemented tools, with physical buttons to scroll through your customized "toolbox," and the typographic-based interface is easy to use. Also, as the most requested addition by users, a messaging app will be implemented, in addition to an alarm clock.
Furthermore, with the addition of 4G connectivity, the company will be looking into other tools that make the most sense to the be supported on Light Phone 2, such as the ability to get simple directions or to call a ride-share home.
For additional details, Light has launched a new Indiegogo campaign for the device, and the very first batch of the Light Phone 2 is expected to ship around April 2019.
