Lil Nas X has had a lot to celebrate this year. After winning an AMA award for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Song with "Old Town Road," the singer has now entered Forbes' 2019 Country's Top Earners list — the first-ever person of color to appear on the chart.
This year, Lil Nas X earned $14 million pre-tax, securing the number 18 spot on the list. Apart from being the first black person to ever appear on Forbes' country list, the 20-year old broke another huge record: he's the first openly gay artist to enter the chart.
In an interview with BBC this past summer, Lil Nas X admitted that homosexuality "isn't really accepted in either the country or hip-hop communities," and added that he felt he was "opening doors for more people" by coming out publicly.
The good news doesn't stop here for Lil Nas X. The Georgia native is currently leading the 2020 Grammy's with six nominations — for Record of the Year, Best Pop Duo Performance, and Best Music Video for "Old Town Road (Remix)", along with Album of the Year, Best New Artist, and Best Rap/Sung Performance for "Panini."
