Lucette van Beek steps in front of the lens of Stefano Carloni for the latest installation in our ongoing Meet the Muse series.

Born in Kerkrade – a small city in the south of Holland – Lucette has previously modeled for the likes of Versace and Kanye West, and now graces the e-pages of Highsnobiety for the first time. Styled in Jacquemus, Sonora, Alyx Studio, Salomon, J.W. Anderson, Vetements and adidas, we asked van Beek some questions below to get to know her a little better.

Make sure to follow along with Lucette on Snapchat, then dive into previous Meet the Muse highlights posts like our feature on Taiwanese model Lin Xiu Wei.

What was your first big gig?

My first big fashion show was Versace, followed by Dolce & Gabbana, Emilio Pucci and the first show from Kanye West. After that, I started shooting for Elle and Glamour Magazine, and everything followed.

Who or what are you currently inspired by?

At the moment I am really inspired by Instagram. For example, you can see so many different kinds of people with different looks, but they are all doing their own thing. So for me, it means that I can do anything I want to, as long as I am interesting to follow and different in my own way.

How has your style changed over the years?

The way I like to dress myself now is very different, compared to six months ago. I guess I wasn’t really into fashion then, and I also didn’t know what was “hot.” Now I know exactly what’s new and what I definitely should buy. Instagram also really inspires my style, because everyday you see different creations that people made and you are trying to make your own too, so in some way I am more creative because of that.

What is the thing that gets you out of bed each morning?

Every day is a new chance to chase your dreams, so you just need to get yourself together and chase them!

Tell us about your day-to-day.

If I’m not doing a photoshoot, I’m doing castings and meeting clients. Sometimes it could be a full day of castings or sometimes just one. I also try to work out everyday since I need to stay in shape for my job, and I really love working out, so that’s not a problem for me at all.

If I still have some free time after that, I like to spend time with my friends or have some quality time for myself.

If you weren’t doing what you are now, where would you work?

That’s a difficult question. I think I would still be in school studying, I have no idea what subject, but it would probably be something with fashion anyway! That’s why I am also so thankful for my job now, because this is what I really love, and I see myself doing this for a long time.

Dream collaboration?

With Fenty, so that would be Fenty by Lucy, haha! I really love Rihanna’s style and view in fashion. She is so creative and it doesn’t matter what she creates or wears, it will always look amazing, and it’s not easy to always find something that people will like, but she always does it.

If you weren’t in your current city, where would you live?

Definitely in Los Angeles! I have been there for six months last year and I fell in love with it. It makes me feel so free and also very creative, and I think that’s a really good thing combined with my job. It makes me want to design clothes and start my own brand because there are so many new and different styles there. I also want to start my acting classes over there, so I think in less than three months I will be living there already.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?

Always chase your dreams, because you can do anything you want, and be anybody you want to be.

Describe your perfect day.

Going vintage shopping with my best friend.

How do you relax?

I started doing hot yoga a few weeks ago, and I’m really into it since it relaxes me so much.

What in life are you most grateful for?

For my health, and for being able to do what I do now, and for all the chances I’ve had. Also for all these amazing and loving people I’ve met.

If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any one quality or ability, what would it be?

Drawing. I can’t draw at all. Sometimes I’ve got some really dope clothing or shoe designs in my head, but then I can’t put them on paper because it will look horrible!

What is the quality you value most in friendship?

Trust. But I think that’s the most important thing in any kind of relationship. You can’t get anywhere without trust.

What is something you’ve dreamed of doing for a long time, but haven’t yet?

Walking the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. I am going to keep dreaming and believing, so one day it will happen.

What could you eat every day and not get tired of?

Chocolate, let me get some right now!
