The LVMH Prize has fast become the industry’s most coveted prize for a new wave of emerging talent since its launch in November 2013. Past winners include Thomas Tait, Marques’Almedia and Grace Wales Bonner. After announcing a shortlist of 21 designers last month, which included Ambush, Martine Rose, Dilara Findikoglu, and GmbH, industry powerhouse LVMH has already whittled it down to 8 finalists. See who made the cut below, and still has the chance to win the prize of €300,000 ($318,000) and support from the LMVH Group for one year.

Who decides the winners? A carefully-selected panel of jurors (including J.W. Anderson and Karl Lagerfeld) and industry experts will make the call, under the supervision of Delphine Arnault, who is Director and executive Vice President of Louis Vuitton. A new addition to the panel of experts for 2017 is model-of-the-moment Kendall Jenner. She has joined the likes of seasoned fashion critic Cathy Horyn, along with CR Fashion Book founder Carine Roitfeld.

The eight finalists include designers originating from Russia, Japan, South Korea, France, the U.K., Denmark, and Syria, and it’s a real milestone for the wider industry’s mission for sincere diversity and inclusivity.
