A beautiful unreleased Mac Miller track called “Benji the Dog” has surfaced online, delivering fans some of the rapper’s first posthumous sounds since his tragic death in September last year.

As is often the case with music that appears after an artist’s death, the piano-backed track carries additional emotional weight, especially when the rapper delivers bars like, “They told me, ‘Don’t make a promise you can’t keep’ / All the drugs in your system, you can’t sleep / How many times you had to buy a Plan B / For a girl you never bring back home to meet your family?”

While not much is known about the track in terms of when it was recorded, “Benji the Dog” features a sample of David Schwimmer saying, “He’s never going to stop being the Juice” from TV show The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story. The show aired in 2016.
