The first design draws inspiration from the white lab coat worn by the Maison Margiela crew. Designed to mimic the appearance of the blouse blanche, the outerwear is notably longer than the standard Mac, adorned with white horn buttons, brushed steel eyelets and the trademark four stitches on the back of the coat.
The next iteration reimagines a style found in the Mackintosh archives, making use of Maison Margiela’s écortiqué technique that was introduced in SS17. Here, the garment’s layers have been peeled back in order to reveal their essential frames. The collar and the cuffs have been done up in écortiqué technique, while the fabric and the remaining details are identical to that of the original, archival design.
You can look forward to the limited edition trench coats from Maison Margiela and Mackintosh to become available from December in select stores.
