Manchester City debuted a 2018-19 season partnership with Dsquared2 when the team showed up to a recent pre-season friendly match wearing a branded black tee, matching shorts, long socks, and dress shoes — and it was a ’fit most fans could not get on board with.

The look comes after Thom Browne announced an official partnership with Catalan football giant FC Barcelona, with the designer taking care of the team's off-field tailored and formalwear uniforms starting in 2018-19. Before Browne, Barca had a deal in place with Replay, which saw their players rock a curious double denim 'fit when traveling to matches.

Designer partnerships aren't a new thing in football, with brands providing squads with matching outfits for traveling and formal events. But as the NBA has turned the pre-game walk into a fashion show, many fans are wondering if football is about to go the same way.
