Prior to an unveiling next month at San Diego Comic-Con, Hot Wheels gives us a look at its upcoming Mario Kart collaboration. Nintendo and Mattel have joined forces to combine two of the most celebrated forms of childhood entertainment, announcing a series of new cars and track sets.

The Mario Kart Hot Wheels cars are designed to resemble the vehicles from the Mario Kart franchise, while four characters will also be available initially: Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, and Bowser. Additional characters are scheduled to follow, however, including Koopa Troopa, Princess Peach, and Toad.

Three Mario Kart Hot Wheels track sets are on the way as well. The Mario Kart Circuit will join the Piranha Plant Slide and Thwomp Ruins track sets, which are said to be inspired by Mario Kart courses.

Neither Nintendo nor Mattel have yet to confirm specific launch information for the Mario Kart Hot Wheels, although the first release is expected to arrive this summer. As always, be sure to check back with us for additional details.
