Mercedes-AMG, the arm of Mercedes-Benz that produces its deliriously high-powered vehicles, has just unveiled the E63 and E63 S sedans — the most powerful E class models of all time.
Reaching new heights of sedan insanity, the two new additions will make every other car of its type on the market look cute and cuddly in comparison. Under the bonnet is AMG's 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 running through a nine-speed dual-clutch transmission. That'll get you 604bhp and 627lb ft of torque in the S model, and 563bhp and 553lb ft in the standard. Both cars will rampage from 0-62mph in less than 3.5 seconds.
That's not all. If you select the "Race" driving mode, deactivate the ESP, switch the gearbox to manual and pull the shift paddles you'll switch to "Drift" mode. That'll send 100 percent of the power to the back tires (rather than an even distribution over all four in normal mode) and you'll be screeching and gliding your way around corners in perfect harmony. When you come out of the corner, though, the Merc’s standard "air body control" suspension keeps you nice and flat and hugging the tarmac.
