The latest in our Meet the Muse series is Mercy Sang. Originally from Kenya but now based in Melbourne, here Sang wears pieces from Yohji Yamamoto, Acne Studios, Prada and Pigsuit.

We asked Sang a handful of questions in order to get to know her a little more. See what she had to say below and check out our previous installment with Tabitha Nauser.

Describe your current style.

I like to play a lot with pieces that would be considered masculine and pair them with extremely feminine pieces.

How has your style changed over the years?

I’ve become more confident in terms of I wear whatever the hell I like. I’ve gone through a few different phases (laughs)…but my style at the moment is the most me for sure.

Who is the film character you’re most like?

Umm probably Nairobi from The Matrix. Well maybe she’s who I wish was.

What is the quality you value most in a friendship?

Kindness, you are who you surround yourself with.

If you weren’t in your current city, where would you live and why?

New York, where I will be soon. I have a bunch of friends there and the culture is not necessarily similar to Melbourne, but would be very easy to adjust.

What is the thing that gets you out of bed each morning?

Realizing that I am most likely late. I am somehow always running late.

What in life are you most grateful for?

The people in my life right now.

What could you eat every day and not get tired of?

Any Kenyan dish.

Where do you want to be in the next five years?

Hopefully happy and doing something I enjoy.

Dream collaboration?

Anything with Jacquemus, very me.
