When Cardi B rocked up at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art for the 2019 Met Gala on Monday night, she did so sporting one of the most head-turning looks of the evening: a giant, red, feather and jewel-adorned Thom Browne gown with a 10-foot train and protruding ruby nipples.

Drawing comparisons to everything from a red blood cell to Rihanna's iconic yellow Guo Pei gown, Cardi's gala look was one of the most-discussed ’fits of the night — a discussion that's only been amped up by the revelation that the nipples encrusted on the breastplate cost a whopping $250,000 a pop.

"These are ruby nipples by Stefere," Cardi told Vogue on the red carpet. “If I lose one of these, I’m gonna have to sell one of my [Hermès] Birkin bags."

Describing the inspiration behind her look, Cardi said, "The inspiration behind it was feminism. This reflects the woman's body. You got the little boobies, vajayjay, and booty — and then, of course, camp" — the latter part a reference to this year's Met Gala theme, "Camp: Notes on Fashion."

"We were really trying to make sure it was elegant, extravagant, but not too Halloween-ish," Cardi added.
