Editor’s Notes: The MIDNIGHT STUDIOS x George Cox collaboration is a match made in heaven thanks to both label’s deep history and fascination with punk style. Together, the two brands have reworked the latter’s classic D-Ring Creeper in two styles: boot and low-top.
As mentioned above, the footwear follow an “inside-out” theme with leather on the inside and canvas and natural leather on the outside.
The Creeper originally gained popularity with soldiers after World War Two and is a style of shoe that has thick crepe soles, usually in combination with leather uppers. George Cox introduced the world’s first creeper nearly 70 years ago. Soon after, in the early ’70s, Malcom McLaren sold George Cox Creepers out of his King’s Road shop in London.
Since then, the silhouette has been adopted by a number of subcultures such as punk and goth. With both MIDNIGHT STUDIOS and George Cox heavily rooted in the punk movement, it makes sense the brands have combined on the above collaboration.
Check out both models above, as they release March 25 at 3 p.m. EST.
