Your houseplants are running away from you as we speak. Ok, they’re not, but designer Tim van de Weerd’s Monstera Magnifica and Monstera Fugiens plant pots create the distinct impression they might be thinking about it. The root-like legs possess all the fluid movement and grace of the real thing, but in place of delicate organic life there is epoxy clay coated steel bars. Epoxy clay is a self-hardening industrial breed of sculpting agent which can be primed, sanded and glossed when dry. And, that’s exactly what van de Weerd has done to his sinuous carriers of plant life.
In van de Weerd’s own words: “The design shows a fascinating tension between stillness and movement and between the organic and industrial.” We couldn’t agree more.
