Yesterday, National Geographic Traveller magazine announced the winners of its annual travel photography competition. UK-based photographers were invited to submit their work to one of six categories: action, nature, people, urban, portfolio, and video.

Above, the grand prize winner Renato Granieri’s photograph of two penguins can be seen, while below the winners and honorable mentions are sorted by category.

The competition first launched in August 2011 and has since become one of the UK’s top photography competitions, which is reflected in the stunning submissions.
