This weekend, Nelly was arrested under suspicion of second degree rape. The rapper was taken into custody Saturday morning after the alleged sexual assault took place on his tour bus following his performance at the White River Amphitheatre in Auburn, Washington.
On Saturday evening, Nelly addressed the allegations in a statement via Twitter, denying he committed the crime. He claims he is “the victim of a false allegation” and that he is “completely innocent.”
“To be absolutely clear. I have not been charged with a crime therefore no bail was required. I was released, pending further investigation,” he went on to explain. Read Nelly’s tweets below.
Nelly is currently touring with the country group Florida Georgia Line, but cancelled his performance Sunday night in Ridgefield, Washington following the controversy, as USA Today reports.
