So it's not the fucking end of The End of the F***ing World after all. Netflix's Emmy-nominated surprise hit show has been renewed for a second season, as revealed via the UK show's official Twitter account today. Watch the promo tweet below.

Despite the season one finale seeming fairly definitive, Netflix — and Channel 4, the UK network that first screened TEOTFW in 2017 — clearly have faith that more narrative possibilities can be juiced for a second season.

Per IndieWire's report, writer Charlie Covell is returning to pen season two, although she'll have to use her imagination from this point on. The show is based on Charles Forman's graphic novel of the same name, and as actor Alex Lawther stated earlier this year, "It was based on a comic book series by Charles Forsman and the comics end where our episodes end.”

No casting announcements have been made yet, but it's safe to bet that leads Lawther and Jessica Barden will return. The first TEOTFW season followed James (Lawther) and Alyssa (Barden), two teenage psychopaths on a road trip to a better life — which, of course, doesn't go to plan. Refresh your memory via the trailer below.

Do you think TEOTFW should have remained just one season? Share your thoughts in the comments.

In other TV news, this 'Rick and Morty' anime teaser suggests an insane new season.
