Brand: New Balance
Model: 997 and 998 “Superfabric”
Key Features: Having already worked with Cordura to upgrade several of its in-line sneakers, New Balance gives the 997 and 998 models another utilitarian update, this time working with SuperFabric to outfit both silhouettes with a cut- and abrasion-resistant overlay. The technical fabric reduces the liklihood that a sharp object will damage the fibres, acting as a flexible armor over the pigskin suede uppers.

Editor’s Notes: New Balance is no stranger to using performant fabrics such as GORE-TEX and CORDURA and its latest pack of outdoor-ready Made in USA sneakers takes things a step further with cut- and abrasion-resistant SuperFabric treatment. The highly-resistant fabric is usually featured in ski jackets and pants, work boots, motorcycle apparel, and even bus seats.
