Nicki Minaj dropped her fourth studio album, Queen, today, and fans are already being drawn to one track in particular. On “Barbie Dreams,” Nicki takes aim at some of hip-hop’s more celebrated male rappers, as well as prominent athletes. She insists, however, that the song is not a diss, rather a nod to people she supports.
At the core, “Barbie Dreams” pays homage to The Notorious B.I.G., as Minaj even uses Biggie’s “Just Playing (Dreams)” beat, similar to 2007’s “Dreams.” On his version, B.I.G. rapped about popular female R&B singers he was attracted to.
“Barbie Dreams” then finds Nicki calling out the likes of Drake, Meek Mill, Eminem, DJ Khaled, 50 Cent, Desiigner, Lil Uzi Vert, Young Thug, YG, The Game, 6ix9ine, and Odell Beckham.
