Nicki Minaj has taken to social media today to announce that she is retiring from music. News arrives as Minaj confirmed in July that a new album was on the way.

Before addressing her fans, Nicki touched on wanting to have a family in her retirement tweet. “I’ve decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys are happy now,” she said. “To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me, ❌ in the box- cuz ain’t nobody checkin me. ✅ Love you for LIFE.”

Minaj seems to have found happiness in her relationship with Kenneth Petty. The two began dating in December of last year and have since reportedly obtained a marriage license.

During her approximately 15-year career, Minaj released four studio albums and earned four top-five entries on the Billboard Hot 100 as a lead artist, while also being nominated for 10 Grammy awards. She is widely regarded as one of the most influential female rappers of all time.

Not NYC, not LA.
