Brand: NICOMEDE

Season: SS2020

Key Pieces:  Gingham features heavily throughout Episode 1 of NICOMEDE. The homely pattern appears across collared shirts, shorts, and tunics, creating what Talavera describes as a “new uniform.”

Release: January 2020

Buy: Selfridges, H.Lorenzo, Machine-A and Holt Renfrew

Editor’s Notes: Nicomede Talavera is back with his new menswear label, NICOMEDE. The London-based designer took a step back from his namesake label in 2015 after enjoying unprecedented success straight out of Central Saint Martins.

The first installment of NICOMEDE is titled Episode 1, “focused on brotherhood, modern rituals and an alien touch.”

Talavera disrupts restrictive tropes of masculinity with playful use of pleats, collars, straps and innovative fabric choice. The biannual episodes are both a celebration and a reimagining of menswear.

His collaborative bangles with Ekaterina Pronina are one such example. The 10-piece bracelet collection straddles childhood and adult world's, reflecting the designer's exploration of the relationship between the familiar and fantasy.

A 7-piece NICOMEDE.UNIFORM capsule will be available exclusively at Selfridges in the UK and H-Lorenzo in the US at the end of June 2019.
