Editor’s Notes: The Air Jordan 3 Black Cement originally released in 1988 before releasing again in 1994, 2001, 2008, and 2011. This year (on Michael Jordan’s birthday, no less) a remastered OG version, featuring “Nike Air” on its heel in place of the Jumpman, will release at select retailers.
The release coincides with the sneaker’s 30th anniversary, making its debut during the 1987/88 season in which Jordan won the Slam Dunk contest, All Star MVP, All-Defensive First Team and Defensive Player of the Year.
It is also the first Jordan that Tinker Hatfield designed after Peter Moore—designer of the Air Jordan 1 and 2—left Nike.
