To celebrate the comeback of the ultimate classic, Nike joined with NEIGHBORHOOD’s Paris store, Shinzo, for a special pop-up space that was the perfect homage to The Swoosh and atmos’ creative partnership.

Draped in neon with zebra crossings across the floor the Shinzo space is designed like a shrine to Japanese youth culture and a place for sneakerheads and casual fans of the Swoosh to learn the full geneaology of the atmos x Air Max design saga.

As you're no doubt aware by now, the Nike Air Max 1 atmos "Elephant" won last year's public vote for a redrop this year. However, the elephant skin design is a nod to the Air Jordan III – another streetwear legend – which is also dropping for Air Max season. Nike and Shinzo gave away a pair exclusively at the event, while everyone else enjoyed the party vibes, played the special edition arcade games, and snapped original pairs of the other Nike x atmos releases from back in the day.

The iconic colorway was famously inspired by the image of an elephant having a bath. Tinker Hatfield’s signature cracked concrete print refers to the animal, obviously, while teal hits on the Swoosh, tongue and heel obviously refer to water.

If you're in Paris, make sure you head down for a bit of sneaker history as the Shinzo pop-up ends today, drop day, March 18.
