Footy Headlines reports that Nike’s “elite clubs” will be wearing Air Max-themed jerseys next season. Each club has apparently been allocated an iconic Air max shoe.
Not every club has had its corresponding sneaker leaked, though Footy Headlines claims to have info for a few of the top Nike-sponsored clubs. Chelsea will apparently be given the Nike Air Max 180, with a pattern inspired by the model’s logo expected to appear all over the shirt. Tottenham Hotspur’s jersey is expected to be predominantly yellow and inspired by the Air Max 95.
Atletico Madrid’s third kit will be inspired by the Air Max 2, while Inter Milan is expected to get the Air Max 97, due to its significance in Italian sneaker culture. AS Roma’s third kit could be inspired by the Nike Air Max 1 “Safari.” Turkish side Galatasaray might have a Nike Air Max Plus “Ultra Tiger”-inspired jersey.
Paris Saint-Germain’s Jordan Brand Champions League jerseys and this season’s return of the ”90s Nike Swoosh logo were well-received by football fans. If the Air Max rumors turn out to be true, it’s highly-likely that next season’s jerseys will be another feather in Nike football’s cap, as they’ll appeal to both football fans and sneakerheads and have sell-out potential.
As always, stay tuned for more information as we get it.
