Brand: Nike SB
Model: Dunk Low “Raygun”
Key Features: As with the original 2005 Raygun release, orange and yellow hues on the upper contrast with the black leather forefoot, with a special alien graphic on the lateral heel. The new style differentiates itself with trippy tie-dye print instead of the original color blocking and a “58” tag on the inside of the tongue.
Release Date: December 28
Editor’s Notes: Nike SB is bringing back one of the most beloved Dunks of its golden era, the “Raygun” colorway that originally dropped in 2005. The colorway likely returns as a tribute to the late Sandy Bodecker, the veteran Nike employee and godfather of Nike SB who passed away last year.
The original release got its name from the Roswell Rayguns, a fictional ABA team that was the focus of a Nike ad campaign during the 2002 NBA Playoffs and shared the same color scheme. The “Raygun” was a known favorite of Bodecker’s, and he was often seen wearing a tie dye Rayguns hoodie, which is where the sneaker’s color scheme was taken from.
Nike has shared images of the black colorway, with a white colorway (believed to be exclusive to skate shops) making up the second part of this two-sneaker Nike SB pack. Stay tuned for more information.
