Nike Reveals Summit Event With a Black Virgil Abloh-Inspired Air Force 1

[UPDATE December 27, 2017 10:15am EST] Highsnobiety sources can now reveal that the sneakers posted are not affiliated with OFF-WHITE/Virgil Abloh in any way. The invites were designed and sent out on Nike’s own behest.

James Whitner — owner of both A Ma Maniére and Social Status — has shared an image of a customized Virgil Abloh x Nike Air Force 1 on Instagram.

Arriving in an all-black colorway, the shoe appears to have been sent as an invitation to a Nike Summit taking place in Los Angeles over three days in February. Initially, the kick appeared on Tommas Olsen of Naked’s Instagram feed in a post which has since deleted, while mita sneakers director Shigeyuki Kunii appears to have snared an invite, too. Along with the customary red tag, white text bearing details of the event replaces the usual OFF-WHITE branding. Peep a closer look at the creps below.

What the summit entails remains to be seen, but those who missed out on the initial drop of “The Ten” in 2017 can take solace in the fact that Virgil and The Swoosh will almost certainly be working on new sneakers together in the forthcoming year. These, however, will no doubt remain in the hands of the invitees only.
