This weekend saw game two of the NBA Finals between the Toronto Raptors and Golden State Warriors, but rather than the on-court action, it was former president Barack Obama whipping up the Twittersphere into a frenzy.

Obama showed up for the encounter in an all-black ensemble, the key piece being a beautifully fitted leather jacket that looked like it could have been pulled from Hedi Slimane’s archive. Tucking a black shirt into a slightly faded pair of jeans, the ex-commander in chief’s Grease-inspired vibe wasn’t far removed from the sartorial stylings of someone like Arctic Monkeys frontman Alex Turner.

This isn’t the first time Obama has set tongues wagging with his fashion choices. Just a few months ago, he cemented his status as a smart-casual icon when he wore a customized rag & bone bomber jacket at a college basketball game. The crowd seemingly approved of Obama’s latest look, giving him a standing ovation and chanting “MVP” when he appeared on the videotron.
