Virgil Abloh’s upcoming Off-White™ x Nike Air Jordan 4 “Sail” is expected to be released at some point in July (the tentative release date is July 25). After debuting the sneaker on the runway in Off-White™’s Fall/Winter 2020 Women’s show in Paris, we now get our best look at the sneaker thanks to notorious early pair account @yankeekicks (see below).
The sneaker was previously teased as a prototype during Virgil’s MCA Chicago “Figures of Speech” exhibition. It is showcased in a cream colorway, seemingly featuring nubuck uppers. Tonal plastic cages and panels appear on the side and heel, while Abloh and Off-White™’s signature branding is applied just above the Air unit and on the laces. To no surprise, the shoe comes with an Off-White™ zip-tie, as well as a Jordan Brand tag.
Ahead of the project’s expected release in July, Abloh donated a signed pair to be auctioned off with all proceeds being donated to charity. In a post to Instagram, Abloh wrote: “got together with some friends, each of us contributing to the sustained support of the Black Lives Matter cause and I’m auctioning an unreleased signed pair of these (with your name not mine per se).” At time of writing, the winning bid exceeded $185,000, though it has not been confirmed that the amount has been paid yet.
Neither Virgil Abloh nor Nike have announced official details surrounding the Off-White™ x Air Jordan 4, so be sure to check back with us for new information.
