Established in 2009, One Block Down has quickly become a Milan streetwear institution, serving up the city with the freshest sneaker and apparel drops. 2019 is a year more special than others, as the store gears up to commemorate its 10th anniversary.
To mark the milestone and celebrate a decade of success, One Block Down has announced a selection of collaborations that will percolate over the coming months.
The inaugural project in the series gets underway with fellow Italians and eyewear specialists RETROSUPERFUTURE, with the pair digging into the RSF vault for a contemporary remix of the Lira silhouette. Recalling a popular style worn by Italian architects and politicians in the 1970s, the design, sizing, and fit has been reimagined by One Block Down for a bold, modern look, offered up in two colorways.
The first pair arrives with a deep red Havana frontal frame, black and white Havana on the temples, and black lenses. The second offers a more refined interpretation of the black frame and is slightly more understated, boasting brown lenses and black acetate. Both feature "BUONA VISTA" text detailing on the temples and lenses and, can be stored in an exclusively designed, wearable case.
Such a special coming together deserves an equally special party, and venues don't come grander than the city's Villa Necchi Campiglio. On Tuesday, guests from all over came to the venue's elegant gardens to recognize the new drop. As well as live DJ Lele Sacchi, there was also a special set from North London rapper Jimothy Lacoste, who got things going with a poolside set. See what went down in the photos above.
The One Block Down x RETROSUPERFUTURE Lira is priced at €189 (approx $210) and can be bought here.
