Situated on Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts, Brooklyn-based architects Peter Rose and Partners have built East House, a concrete coastal dream house with one major feature: it moves. Owing to its location and the potential for erosion, the floors are cast in concrete panels, allowing for the structural unit to be lifted - with all interior fixtures, including its cedar wood finishes, in place. So as the land shifts and evolves, this home will follow suit. Sought to embed into its natural landscape, the series of concrete blocks are strategically connected with large window frames that are orientated to capture its coastal setting and views of the surrounding greenery.
