Editor’s Notes: This year marks the 50th anniversary of the PUMA Suede. The classic kicks have long been aligned with hip-hop culture, notably credited as the shoe of choice for New York’s B-boys. To celebrate the anniversary, the sportswear brand has tapped California label XLARGE for a ’90s-inspired makeover.
The water-repellent suede upper in coal black is neatly accented by a kelly green Formstrip, both of which contrast with the white midsole, making for a simple yet striking shoe. Throw in classic gold foil PUMA branding on the lateral and you’ve got a sneaker that’ll stand out anywhere.
For those looking to cop, PUMA and XLARGE are also offering three lace sets and additional lace tips to keep your footwear flex strong, including a dual-branded set with gold PUMA and XLARGE wordmarks throughout. The Suede 50s will be available at PUMA online on June 28.
