The Drip is Highsnobiety’s latest series, taking a deep-dive look at celebrities and their jawnz. Every other day, we highlight a notable figure from our world and run the rule over whether their outfit is a hit or miss. Do you agree or disagree with our appraisal? Let us know below.
The outfit he’s wearing: Custom Craig Green jacket, matching track pants, and YEEZY 500 “Blush” sneakers.
Location: Daytona tour stop at the House of Blues, Boston
Why it works: King Push’s ’fit game has always been forward-thinking and this specially designed Craig Green set is a shining example of the rapper’s preference for on-trend, innovative design in luxury sportswear.
The matching black jacket and track pants grab the eye with those bright pops of geometric blue, red, and yellow. Somehow the ’fit manages to be at once understated and attention-grabbing, with the YEEZY 500s’ “Blush” colorway contrasting the overall look.
Editor’s Notes: Craig Green is one of menswear’s hottest properties, and is widely considered not so much a designer but a clothing conceptualist. Hailed by critics for his avant-garde approach, Green last year tore himself away from the runway to design over 200 pieces for Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant.
Hip-hop appears to be a fan, too, with the likes of Kendrick Lamar and Drake previously rocking his pieces. Push himself was no stranger to the designer before this week, memorably turning up to his Daytona listening party in one Green’s unmistakable geometric sweaters.
Hip-hop’s newfound fandom of Green is a result of the genre’s ever-strengthening relationship with the more experimental side of the fashion world. The likes of Lil Uzi Vert and Young Thug continue to make waves with genderless ’fits, while Tyler, The Creator has wowed with his soft pastel and floral print aesthetics. In other words, we’ve come a long way from days of baggy pants, white vests and gold chains.
